Privacy Policy

PS Equipment Ltd ("PS Equipment", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles.

Last updated: 6 June 2026

1. Scope

This policy applies to personal information collected by PS Equipment through our website, phone, email, in-person meetings, sales and service interactions, and dealings with suppliers and contractors. PS Equipment is the agency responsible for personal information collected by us under the Privacy Act 2020.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

  • Contact details — name, company, role, phone, email, physical and delivery addresses
  • Equipment requirements, site details and operational information you share to obtain quotes or technical advice
  • Account, credit and payment information (including information required for credit checks where applicable)
  • Service, warranty and certification records for equipment we have supplied
  • Correspondence, call notes and quote history

We also collect limited technical information automatically when you use our website — IP address, browser type, device, referring page, pages viewed and timestamps — to operate, secure and improve the site.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and prepare quotes
  • Supply equipment, parts, builds and services, and arrange freight and certification
  • Provide technical, warranty and after-sales support
  • Manage accounts, invoicing and credit
  • Send service notices, recall information and (where you have opted in) product updates
  • Improve our website, products and customer experience
  • Comply with legal, tax, health and safety, and regulatory obligations in New Zealand

4. Sharing & disclosure

We share personal information only where necessary to deliver our services, including with:

  • Equipment suppliers (including Kyokuto, DY, Jacon and STG Global) for orders, warranty and parts
  • Freight, logistics and customs brokers
  • Certifying engineers and inspection agencies for boom and pressure certification
  • Payment processors, banks and credit reference agencies
  • Professional advisors (accountants, lawyers, insurers)
  • Government agencies and regulators where required by law

We do not sell personal information.

5. Overseas transfers

Some suppliers and service providers are based outside New Zealand (for example in Japan, Korea and Australia). Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is required to protect that information in a way that, overall, provides comparable safeguards to the Privacy Act 2020.

6. Cookies & analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, and measure how it is used. We may use analytics tools that collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some site features may not work as intended.

7. Storage & security

Personal information is held in our business systems and reputable third-party services. We apply reasonable physical, technical and organisational safeguards — including access controls, encryption in transit, and staff confidentiality obligations — to protect against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

8. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes set out above or as required by New Zealand law (for example, tax records under the Tax Administration Act 1994, and equipment service and certification records). When no longer required, information is securely destroyed or de-identified.

9. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of that information if it is inaccurate
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time

Contact us using the details below to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

10. Privacy breaches

If a notifiable privacy breach occurs, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and any affected individuals as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

11. Children

Our website and services are directed to businesses and trade customers and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The current version, with its "last updated" date, is always available on this page.
