What to consider

Selection criteria

Reach

Boom reach defines what you can place from one setup. 28–32m suits residential and small commercial; 36–46m covers most commercial work; 50m+ is high-rise and large-footprint.

Output

Piston pump output (m³/h) drives pour rate. Match to crew size and slab volume — over-spec'd output is wasted if you can't keep concrete supply up to it.

Sections and fold

RZ, Z and roll-fold boom designs trade setup speed against transport height and stability.

Chassis

8x4 is common for 38–42m booms, 10x4 for 46m+. Confirm chassis suits NZ road rules, axle loadings and your local depot.

Certification and inspection

Boom pumps need regular certification in NZ. Plan inspection intervals and budget for boom and structural checks.

Common questions from NZ operators. If yours isn't here, talk to Shaun.

What boom reach is most common in NZ?+
38m–42m is the most common working size for commercial and civil pours. Smaller booms suit residential; longer booms suit high-rise and tank work.
Kyokuto vs DY boom pumps — what's the difference?+
Both are proven piston boom pumps. Kyokuto has a long history in NZ with strong durability; DY offers competitive new-build pricing and broad model range. We can talk through both.
Do you offer boom certification support?+
Yes. We support customers through NZ certification, including inspection coordination and documentation.
What's the lead time on a new boom pump?+
Lead time depends on the model and chassis. Stocked units can be delivered quickly; built-to-order boom trucks generally take several months.
Do you supply parts for existing boom pumps?+
Yes — including for pumps we didn't originally sell. Send the part number or a photo.
Can I trade in an existing boom pump?+
Trade-ins are considered case-by-case. Send the unit details and we'll come back with an indication.
